HEALTH DATA ANALYTICS NETWORK

Over 400 health data scientists from across the UK are joining forces to map the UK health data analytics landscape and craft a national strategy for health data analytics research. EPSRC provides significant support for this network, including health informatics researchers and basic data scientists embedded in healthcare settings. Our eagerness to engage with researchers involved in health data analytics and/or health informatics, as well as data scientists with little exposure to applying their research in the health and social care domain, is unwavering.

The network collaborates with the Farr Institute and the Alan Turing Institute, focusing on data science to tackle significant challenges in health and social care. Our network bridges the gap between the development of foundational theory, methodologies, and algorithms, and the use of electronic health records and other population-based data for health research. Manchester Informatics coordinated the network's operations.

Our community is currently developing a research roadmap with further input from its members. The roadmap is a working document, created from the Inaugural and Research Roadmap Workshops, Industry Engagement Workshops, and the network Survey. The roadmap provides funders, particularly EPSRC, with a clear understanding of the research challenges and opportunities within health data analytics. It serves as a vital framework for continuing the dialogue with key stakeholders.

In summary, our community of health data scientists is thriving and committed to enhancing health data analytics research in the UK. We collaborate with other institutions to tackle significant challenges in health and social care. The research roadmap we are developing is critical in providing funders with a clear understanding of the research challenges and opportunities in health data analytics. Our dedication to promoting health and well-being through data-driven research and collaboration remains unwavering.
