HEALTH DATA ANALYTICS NETWORK
This network comprises over 400 health data scientists across the UK who are working together to map the UK health data analytics landscape and frame the national strategy for health data analytics research. EPSRC provides significant support to this network, which includes health informatics researchers and basic data scientists embedded in a healthcare setting. We are eager to engage with researchers involved in health data analytics and/or health informatics, as well as data scientists who may have little exposure so far to applying their research in the health and social care domain.
The network works in collaboration with the Farr Institute and the Alan Turing Institute, focusing on data science to address key challenges in health and social care. We bridge the gap between the development of foundational theory, methodologies, and algorithms and the use of electronic health records and other population-based data for health research. Manchester Informatics coordinates networks operations.
With further input from the community, we are currently developing a research roadmap. The research roadmap is a working document created from the Inaugural and Research Roadmap Workshops, Industry Engagement Workshops, and the network Survey. The Roadmap provides funders, particularly EPSRC, with a clear statement of the research challenges and opportunities within health data analytics. It serves as an essential framework for continuing the dialogue with key stakeholders.
In summary, is a thriving community of health data scientists committed to enhancing health data analytics research in the UK. We work collaboratively with other institutions to tackle key challenges in health and social care. The research roadmap we are developing is crucial in providing funders with a clear understanding of the research challenges and opportunities in health data analytics. We remain dedicated to promoting health and wellbeing through data-driven research and collaboration.
